SEM Training

SEM Introductory Training is a 3 hour session at the 1530 SEM with a group of up to 3 users. We will cover the basics of SEM imaging, a discussion of imaging conditions and hands-on training on the use of the microscope. At the end of this session each user will have an opportunity to operate the microscope to apply concepts discussed during the training.

Users are asked to schedule a 1.5-2 hour followup session to independently practice SEM operation and imaging. Instruction on loading and unloading samples will be covered during this session. Users may bring their own samples to this session or practice samples can be provided.

Upon successful completion of a third session with the microscope, typically imaging their own samples, users will be authorized and able to use the 1530 SEM without immediate supervision.

Training on the 1540XB FIB/SEM can begin once 1530 training is complete.

The schedule for upcoming sessions is posted on our homepage.
